June 2017: Dean Family Update
Sadly, Susan lost her battle with cancer in April 2017. Our thoughts are with Jamie and their children Mackenzie, Ella, Carter and Fraser during this sad time.
September 2016: Dean Family Cancer Fundraiser
The Cricket Section was recently shattered to learn that Susan Dean had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Sue is only 42 years old and is the daughter of one of the founders of the Cricket Club, John Fisher (who passed away last year), wife of 25 year player and section life member – Jamie and mother of 4 children (Mackenzie 14, Ella 12, Carter 10 and Fraser 6). The boys are all Cricket players.
Sue and her family have been long serving members and supporters of the club and Jamie has run the Junior program for many years before their boys played and is currently in that role again.
The Cricket Section held a Trivia Night and Fundraiser for Susan on the evening of Thursday 8 September at the club and in excess of 250 people attended. A combination of a raffle, silent and live auctions were also held and the night was an amazing success with $24,138 raised! It was an amazing show of support and fantastic effort by all.
Thanks to everyone who donated their time, money or prizes to the Dean Family Cancer Fundraiser.

June 2016: Geoff Collins awarded live membership
CONGRATULATIONS to Geoff Collins on being awarded Life Membership at our AGM held on the 16th June 2016.
Geoff Joined Mulgrave Country Club in March 1994. He soon showed his willingness to be an active member by accepting a board appointment to the Club’s Membership Sub-committee in June 1994. He served as a member of that committee for 3 years. Also during that period he served on the Human Resources Sub-committee for 2 years and for 1 year on the Social Committee.
Geoff has given his time generously to the club and was elected Secretary of the Men’s Bowls Section in 2004, a position he held for 2 years. In this time he introduced many new measures and systems to help make the section more efficient and transparent. He did this in a very friendly and co-operative manner.
In 2006 Geoff was elected to the Board of Directors and was appointed Vice Chairman of the Sections and Membership Sub-committee that year. In the years 2007 to 2010 Geoff became Chairman of the Sections and Membership Committee and performed his committee duties in an efficient and exemplary manner.
From 2010 to 2015 Geoff held the position of Club Vice President and also served as a member of the Finance and Strategic Management Committee.
An important milestone of the club was our 50th Anniversary and a committee was set up to oversee all aspects of the celebrations. This committee was chaired by Geoff, a task he did admirably.
Geoff has been a member of the bowling section since joining and has been a valuable, pleasant and reliable member of the section.
The club has been the beneficiary of Geoff’s service and knowledge over the 22 years he has been a member. For the majority of the time he attended the club daily ensuring that he performed all the administrative duties associated with his responsibilities.
Well done Geoff!
March 2016: Congratulations to Kerry Scarlett for achieving 20 years' service with the club
Kerry started as a part time employee behind the bar whilst also working in a similar position at Noble Park Football Club. It wasn’t long before she gave up Noble Park and worked at Mulgrave exclusively.
Kerry quickly rose to shift supervisor and from there to Operations Manager. Kerry was appointed General Manager in April 2007 and I remember we had to employ 2 people to replace her such was her work ethic. Congratulations Kerry on 20 outstanding years.
