LADIES BOWLS: Annual Refugee Picnic

Five years ago, a few of our ladies approach Ev Gunther to teach them to crochet. The ladies now meet once a week in winter and many toys, pieces of children's clothing and rugs, have since been completed and distributed to refugee groups via the Edmund Rice Centre.

The Edmund Rice Centre Annual Refugee picnic was recently held at Sandridge Beach, with some 200 African students and parents attending and enjoying the water, the sand, the football and Bill Jennings cricket match. The BBQ chefs toiled for two hours non-stop to keep up with demand... A feature of the day was the extraordinary support given by over 50 volunteers.
